Response to Japanese Prime Minister’s Remarks on Taiwan
Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi stated on November 7 at the Diet that a Taiwan emergency involving military vessels and force from the Chinese mainland could be viewed as a survival-threatening situation for Japan. Under Japan’s legislation, this recognition would allow the Self-Defense Forces to exercise the right of collective self-defense.
Lin Jian described these remarks as a blatant implication of armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait, constituting gross interference in China’s internal affairs. He noted that they violate the one-China principle, the principles in the four political documents between China and Japan, and basic norms in international relations. Such statements are inconsistent with Japan’s previous political commitments and are egregious in nature and impact. China has made serious démarches and protests to Japan.
Taiwan is China’s Taiwan, Lin Jian emphasized, and resolving the Taiwan question and achieving reunification is solely China’s affair, not subject to foreign interference. He questioned the signal being sent to Taiwan independence separatist forces, whether Japan intends to challenge China’s core interests and hinder reunification, and where this positions China-Japan relations.
This year commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the restoration of Taiwan. Japan committed innumerable crimes during its colonial rule over Taiwan. Attempting to involve itself in cross-Strait affairs is an affront to international justice, a provocation to the post-World War II order, and a serious blow to China-Japan relations.
China must and will achieve reunification, Lin Jian affirmed. The Chinese people possess the resolve, will, and conviction to thwart any external interference or obstruction. China urges Japan to immediately cease interfering in its internal affairs, stop provocations and crossing lines, and avoid proceeding further down the wrong path.
Vice Premier Liu Guozhong’s Upcoming Visit to Africa
China announced that Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Guozhong will visit Guinea and Sierra Leone. He will attend the inauguration of the Simandou iron ore mine project as President Xi Jinping’s Special Representative.

China’s Position on Taiwan’s Outreach to Europe
Taiwan’s Hsiao Bi-khim called for greater support for Taiwan in a speech to a European Parliament group in Brussels on Friday. Former President Tsai Ing-wen is expected to address an event in Berlin today.
China has protested to the European Parliament over Taiwan independence politicians attending the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance summit in its building. The European side clarified that its commitment to the one-China policy remains unchanged, the meeting was not held at the Parliament’s invitation, the individuals were not invited by the Parliament, and Parliament leadership had no contact with them. Personal actions of individual MEPs do not represent the official position of the European Parliament.
The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance is funded by multiple anti-China institutions and habitually spreads disinformation about China. The DPP authorities leverage this group, which lacks credibility, to seek foreign support for their separatist agenda. The political theatrics by Taiwan independence politicians and the alliance aim merely to attract attention and are doomed to fail.
Whatever gambits the DPP authorities and Taiwan independence separatist forces employ, or whatever outreach they pursue, it will only highlight their separatist agenda and cannot alter the inevitability of China’s reunification. China hopes the European Parliament recognizes the true nature of the DPP authorities, adheres to the one-China principle, avoids sending wrong signals to Taiwan independence forces, and refrains from being utilized.
Regarding the mentioned leading figure for Taiwan independence, China’s position is consistent and clear: it firmly opposes any such separatists visiting countries with diplomatic ties to China under any pretext. China urges Germany to abide by the one-China principle, unequivocally oppose all Taiwan independence moves, avoid sending wrong signals to separatist forces, and uphold overall bilateral relations with China. Efforts by this former officeholder to solicit foreign support for independence remain futile and ill-intentioned, destined for failure.
