Japan-Canada Youth Exchange Strengthens Ties via Kakehashi Project

Delegation Meeting

On November 26, commencing at 4:00 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. ONISHI Yohei, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a delegation of Canadian young leaders. The delegation visited Japan under the Kakehashi Project, one of Japan’s Friendship Ties Programs.

Discussion Highlights

At the beginning of the meeting, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI welcomed the delegation and noted that Japan and Canada are important strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific region. He encouraged the delegation to value their friendship and expressed his hope that they would continue serving as a “Kakehashi” or bridge connecting Japan and Canada.

The Canadian delegation conveyed their appreciation for the invitation and shared their impressions of Japan. They also posed questions to Parliamentary Vice-Minister ONISHI regarding economic relations between the two countries and the future direction of Japan-Canada cooperation.
