Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, held a bilateral meeting with Romanian Minister Oana-Silvia Soiher in Bucharest today. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry informed that the talks focused on trade expansion, investment promotion, and strengthening stable supply chains under the larger India-European Union economic infrastructure framework. Both sides have agreed to work towards the goal of concluding a fair, balanced, and mutually beneficial India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) within this year. During the meeting, both Ministers reviewed the stable trade and investment relationship between India and Romania. The Ministry further stated that India’s exports to Romania crossed USD 103 million in the 2024-25 fiscal year, while total bilateral trade was approximately USD 298 million in 2023-24.The two sides agreed to deepen supply chain connectivity in priority sectors such as petroleum products, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and ceramics. They also committed to facilitate cooperation on standards, testing, and investment partnership measures designed to enhance market access for businesses on both sides.
