Aseer Corn Harvest Supports Food Security and Rural Development

Abha The terraced fields of Aseer are currently witnessing a local corn harvest. Corn cultivation extends across the mountain villages and the Tihama plains, relying on rainfall, terraced landscapes, and traditional farming practices that incorporate well water.
Corn holds a key place in Aseer’s cuisine, appearing in traditional foods and reflecting its historical importance and continued role in supporting the region’s food security.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture provides support for mountain farming through initiatives focused on terracing, rainwater harvesting, cooperative marketing, certified seeds, organic agriculture, and market access via platforms and seasonal events.
