Sindhi Community’s Enterprise, Service and Cultural Commitment Highlighted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla

Sindhi Community Reflects Cultural Pride, Integrity and Nation-Building
Diversity and Mutual Respect Essential for Vision of Viksit Bharat, Says Lok Sabha Speaker
Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla today underlined the Sindhi community’s unwavering commitment to service and its rich cultural heritage, stating that these qualities have made it a key contributor to India’s social, economic and cultural progress. Appreciating the community’s collective strength and resilience, he said it represents ideals that shape a strong India. He shared these remarks during the Sashakt Samaj – Samridh Bharat programme organised by the Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations at Vigyan Bhawan.
He noted that the community has consistently shown expertise in business, industry, banking, services and emerging technologies, creating livelihoods for millions. He added that their accomplishments are rooted not only in professional capability but also in values of trust, cooperation and ethical practices, which support the nation’s advancement.
The Lok Sabha Speaker stated that the challenges faced by the Sindhi community during Partition strengthened it further. Despite losing material assets, the community protected its religion, traditions, customs and cultural identity. Instead of succumbing to difficulties, it rebuilt its life with determination, turning challenges into opportunities. He said this journey reflects resilience and cultural pride.
Shri Birla reiterated that India’s strength lies in its diversity and stressed that unity, coordination and mutual respect among communities are essential to achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He acknowledged the Sindhi community’s contributions in education, health, social service and community welfare, noting their commitment to inclusive growth and societal upliftment.
Highlighting his long association with the Sindhi community since 2003, Shri Birla said their support and goodwill have remained constant. He mentioned his experiences during parliamentary delegation visits abroad, observing vibrant Sindhi communities in countries including Barbados, Suriname and Mexico, where they preserve their heritage while becoming integral to local economies and societies.
He attributed India’s growth in technology and new-age sectors partly to the entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and forward-looking approach of Sindhi youth. Their efforts, he said, motivate other communities and strengthen national development. Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s words, Shri Birla said the community has demonstrated globally how resilience, hard work and cultural integrity contribute to rebuilding lives and achieving success. He said their accomplishments at home and abroad bring pride to the nation.
Shri Birla also appreciated the Vishwa Sindhi Hindu Foundation of Associations for uniting the community, safeguarding heritage and reinforcing the spirit of nation-building. He expressed confidence that ideas shared during the programme will support social empowerment, youth leadership and the goal of a strong and united India.
Chief Minister, Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
