Ministry of Minority Affairs to Hold National Haj Conference in Mumbai on 22 November 2025
Conference to Focus on Coordination and Pilgrim Services
The Ministry of Minority Affairs will convene a National Haj Conference on Saturday, 22 November 2025, at Haj House in Mumbai. The meeting will be chaired by Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, and will gather Executive Officers from all State and Union Territory Haj Committees to review preparations for Haj 2026.
India sends more than 1,75,000 Haj pilgrims each year, and the Government of India continues to emphasize safe, smooth, and dignified arrangements for all Indian Haj Yatris. The Haj Committee of India, functioning under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, works year-round to support facilitation, coordination, and service mechanisms for pilgrims. The conference will focus on enhancing cooperation between State and UT Haj Committees and the Haj Committee of India while evaluating progress on key operational activities.
Accommodation and Logistics
The agenda includes a review of accommodation arrangements and coordination with Saudi and domestic agencies, along with an assessment of logistics planning to support timely and comfortable services for pilgrims.
Transportation and Baggage Handling
Participants will examine systems related to the movement of pilgrims and evaluate measures to ensure efficient, safe, and timely handling of baggage.
Training of Haj Assistants and Inspectors
The conference will review training modules and preparedness levels, with attention on service delivery, discipline, and compliance with operational protocols.
Medical Preparedness
Discussions will cover medical screening for all pilgrims, vaccination and certification processes in line with guidelines of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the deployment and readiness of medical teams and support staff.
The conference seeks to identify gaps, streamline procedures, and improve coordination across agencies to support safe and efficient arrangements for Haj 2026.
The Ministry has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of minority communities and to providing quality facilities for all Indian Haj pilgrims. The outcomes of the conference are expected to enhance overall preparedness for the upcoming Haj season.
