New MEMU Services Introduced Between Delhi and Shamli

Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, inaugurated and flagged off two new Mainline Electric Multiple Unit train services between Delhi and Shamli at Baraut railway station. The services include Delhi Junction–Shamli–Delhi Junction and Delhi Shahdara–Shamli–Delhi Shahdara.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Vaishnaw stated that Indian Railways is working under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance passenger services. He noted that the launch of the two MEMU services between Delhi and Shamli would improve travel for daily passengers, students, farmers, and professionals in the region. He said that Shamli station is being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at a cost of ₹25 crore to develop it as a modern and world-class facility. He added that the long-standing demand of the Shamli–Baghpat region was being addressed through the introduction of these services, which would make travel easier for residents.

Announcement of Doubling Work on Delhi–Shamli Section

The announcement by Shri Vaishnaw regarding the doubling of the Delhi–Shamli section was met with appreciation from the large gathering at Baraut station. Leaders on the dais also expressed their gratitude to the Union Minister for addressing this long-pending regional requirement.

Railway Developments in Uttar Pradesh Since 2014

The Union Minister stated that since 2014, Uttar Pradesh has seen the construction of 5,272 kilometres of new tracks, which he compared to the total railway network of Switzerland. He added that railway lines in the state have achieved 100 percent electrification. Since 2014, 1,460 flyovers and road underbridges have been constructed across the state. He informed that 154 lifts and 156 escalators have been installed at various stations for passenger convenience, and Wi-Fi facilities have been provided at 771 stations. He said that 34 Vande Bharat Express and 26 Amrit Bharat Express trains are currently operating in the state.
