Rohtak, November 11: A comprehensive strategy to improve foundational learning in government schools has been announced in a high-level review meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner at the Mini Secretariat. The initiative, titled Padhe Rohtak Likhe Rohtak, aims to accelerate Foundational Literacy and Numeracy across the district and ensure measurable improvement in reading, writing, and numeracy skills among students.
Focus on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy
The district has set the goal of achieving 100 percent NIPUN status by January 2026. The primary focus is on bringing students currently lagging behind to required proficiency levels in a phased manner. According to the roadmap, students with one core skill gap are to be upstaged within the first 45 days, while the remaining students are expected to achieve complete skill mastery within the next 30 days.
A daily Zero Period will now be implemented in all schools as a dedicated remedial learning session. Skill Tracker Fridays will be used to record and review individual learning progress. Additionally, Mother–Teacher Circles will promote home-based reading engagement, particularly in rural households. To mark the achievement of the district’s objectives, Padho Likho Melas are planned for January 2026.
Strengthening Infrastructure and Classroom Learning
The administration outlined steps to upgrade infrastructure and digital learning facilities. Completion of dual desk supply, toilet repairs, and electrical maintenance works is expected by the end of November. Smart Classrooms with DIKSHA and e-Adhyan digital resources will be made fully operational. PM SHRI Schools will serve as district model institutions for academic quality and infrastructure readiness.
DIET Madina will conduct academic audits and provide mentoring to schools requiring academic support.
Building Teacher Capacity and Recognition
Teacher Learning Circles will begin in December, creating a platform for sharing classroom practices. A District Teachers’ Innovation Award will be introduced to highlight effective teaching models. Refresher orientation for newly posted teachers will also be conducted within November.
Academic and Skill Development Initiatives
- Maths Olympiad preparation will be enhanced by training five PGT Mathematics teachers from each block.
- The Super 40 programme for IIT-JEE and NEET aspirants for the 2027 cycle will start on December 1, 2025, at GGSSS Hisar Road, Rohtak. Twenty students each will receive two-year coaching, test support, and mentoring under Samagra Shiksha with an allocation of Rs 10 lakh.
- NSQF skill education has been expanded to sixty-six schools across fourteen trades, benefiting more than 22,000 students. A Donate Tools – Build Skills campaign will involve local industries, and a District Skill Job Fair is being planned for February 2026.
Innovative Learning Models in the District
The district plans to implement several innovation-focused initiatives including Smart Class 360 digital learning hubs, Mission Hunar skill labs, Bal Vigyan and Innovation Clubs for hands-on science learning, and the Rohtak Young Innovators’ Fair. Schools will also participate in the Green and Clean Campus Challenge and establish girl leadership and wellness clubs under Nanhi Chhatri.
A Career Guidance and Counselling Portal will connect students with alumni across professional fields. The School Mitra Abhiyan will involve parents and community members in cultural and practical learning contributions. Additionally, the Rohtak Sports and Wellness Academy will offer structured training in major sports along with daily fitness activities.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that the goal is to make learning environments dynamic and student-centered. The mission places emphasis on curiosity-driven learning supported by digital resources, skill development, academic enrichment programmes, and community participation.
