
State to Mobilize Citizens Against Chitta
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the campaign against Chitta in Himachal Pradesh would be transformed into a mass movement and that the participation of every citizen was important. He chaired a review meeting in Shimla regarding the preparations for the Anti-Chitta Walkathon scheduled for 15 November 2025.
Registration and Awareness Activities Planned
Registration for the walkathon can be done by scanning a bar code. A series of awareness activities will take place during the walk from Ridge to Chaura Maidan. Youth, students and people from various sections of society are expected to take part in these efforts to spread awareness.
Three-Month Campaign to Continue After Walkathon
The Chief Minister directed the departments concerned to complete all necessary preparations on time. He said the campaign would continue for the next three months and described it as a decisive battle against Chitta. He added that the state government was committed to eliminating the substance entirely and that no person involved in this trade would be spared.
Events Across Districts to Follow
Following the state-level walkathon, similar events will also be organized at the district and sub-divisional levels. Cabinet members, MLAs and prominent members of society will join these initiatives to strengthen the campaign.
Administrative Coordination for the Walkathon
Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari provided details about the preparations being made for the event. Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary K.K. Pant, Additional Chief Secretary Shyam Bhagat Negi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar and OSD Gopal Sharma attended the meeting in Shimla. Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from various districts participated virtually.
