Livelihood Mission Launch

The state government, in collaboration with the central government, has launched the “Livelihood Mission” campaign to promote rural entrepreneurship and skill development among the youth. Under this initiative, the government aims to establish 10 skill development centers across the state to train rural youth in modern agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. Financial assistance will be provided to rural entrepreneurs to encourage self-employment. The campaign will focus on creating employment opportunities in rural areas, with a target to train 4-5 thousand youths annually. The state government has also planned to distribute agricultural tools and equipment to farmers to boost productivity.

Organic Farming and Health Campaign

The state government has initiated a special drive to promote organic farming under the “Livelihood Mission.” This drive includes training programs on organic farming techniques and the distribution of organic fertilizers to farmers. The government aims to establish organic farming clusters in collaboration with agricultural universities. The campaign will also focus on promoting the marketing of organic products. In a related development, the state has launched a health awareness campaign targeting rural areas, providing free health check-ups and essential medicines, with 50 health camps planned by year-end.

Women Empowerment Scheme

The state government has introduced a new scheme to provide financial assistance to women self-help groups (SHGs) under the “Livelihood Mission.” This scheme aims to empower women by providing loans and training in income-generating activities such as handicrafts and weaving. The government has allocated ₹2,200 crore, with ₹2,168 crore already disbursed to SHGs. The state plans to establish 20,277 new SHGs, targeting 250 new jobs, with 56 already created.

Improvement in Literacy Rate

The state government has reported a literacy rate of 74.22% as per the latest survey by the Education Department. The government has launched programs to improve educational infrastructure, including new schools and free textbooks. The “Livelihood Mission” supports this with vocational training, establishing 86 new educational institutions and a digital literacy program to train 50,000 students, with 25 schools planned for upgrade by 2024.

New Irrigation Project

The state government has announced a new irrigation project under the “Livelihood Mission” to support farmers in drought-prone areas. The project aims to construct 86 new irrigation canals to provide water to 74.22 lakh acres of farmland, with ₹2,200 crore allocated and ₹2,168 crore utilized. It will benefit 20,277 farmers, with 56 canals under construction, targeting completion by 2024.
