Jaipur, 6 November. The Rajasthan government has taken up extensive road safety and infrastructure improvement measures across all urban regions. Following directives from Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Urban Development Department has instructed municipal bodies to accelerate ongoing works and undertake new essential tasks under a focused campaign, ensuring completion by 30 December. The state administration has emphasized that citizen convenience and safe mobility remain top priorities.

Encroachment-Free Footpaths and Safer Road Junctions

A systematic action plan is being implemented to keep road corridors free from obstacles. Unauthorised road cuts are being closed without delay. Excessive vegetation near junctions is being removed, and slip lanes will be developed where needed. Retroreflective signage will be placed at the beginning points of flyovers, overbridges and underpasses, along with clear no-parking instructions at turning points. Regular repainting of zebra crossings and thermoplastic road markings is also part of the campaign. All road renewal works across municipal areas are targeted for completion by 31 March.

Repair and Safety Measures for Footpaths, Drains and Dividers

Urban bodies have been asked to repair footpaths and dividers at large scale. Open drains will be secured, and damaged manhole and ferro covers will be replaced or repaired to prevent accidents. In busy areas, strong railings will be set up on dividers to manage pedestrian and vehicle movement safely. Encroachment removal drives will be carried out regularly to keep walkways and road edges clear. Municipalities will also ensure that commercial vehicles have proper parking space to avoid roadside congestion.

Maintenance and Public Information Display at Work Sites

Details of project cost, duration and responsible officials must be displayed at construction sites to allow easy communication in case of public inconvenience. Regular trimming and upkeep of roadside plants, along with immediate organization of exposed electrical cables in public spaces, are also mandated.

Mandatory Logging of Excavation Works on C-BUD App

The department has clearly stated that no digging or excavation on roads may begin without recording full work details on the C-BUD app. Any activity executed without logging will attract penalties, and strict disciplinary action will follow. Responsibility for maintaining workmanship standards has been firmly assigned to the engineer in charge and the concerned contractor.
