Increase in Sugarcane Procurement Price
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to raise the procurement price of sugarcane by Rs 30 per quintal. This move is expected to directly benefit millions of farmers engaged in cane cultivation across the state. With this revision, the price for the early maturing variety of cane has increased to Rs 400 per quintal, while the late maturing variety is now priced at Rs 390 per quintal.

This price adjustment is projected to result in an additional payout of about Rs 3,000 crore to sugarcane farmers. Over the past eight years, sugarcane farmers in Uttar Pradesh have received payments amounting to Rs 2,90,225 crore, reflecting the scale and importance of the crop to the rural economy of the state.

Uttar Pradesh currently ranks second nationally in both sugarcane cultivation and sugar output. At present, 122 sugar mills are operational in the state.
