Mid-Campaign Update: Special Campaign 5.0 Advances in Department of Defence

The Department of Defence is making significant strides in the mid-phase of Special Campaign 5.0, aligned with the nationwide Swachhata Abhiyan. This initiative emphasizes cleanliness, workplace decluttering, and sustainable waste management practices.

Preparatory Phase Achievements

During the preparatory stage, the Department strategically identified 5,377 locations across India for comprehensive Swachhata activities. These sites encompass a diverse array of organizations and attached offices, ensuring broad coverage and impact.

Campaign Progress as of 16 October 2025

To date, 766 sites have been successfully covered under the campaign, demonstrating robust implementation and commitment to the initiative’s goals.

File Review and Space Optimization

  • Physical files examined: 9,580
  • Files weeded out: 1,727
  • Space freed up: 22,021 square feet

This meticulous review process has optimized office infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency.

Revenue Generation from Waste Disposal

Through the systematic disposal of office scrap and obsolete IT equipment, the Department has generated Rs 2.38 lakh in revenue. This effort underscores the campaign’s focus on creating value from waste.

Process Reforms for Efficient Governance

The Department is prioritizing process reforms to streamline operations. A key target is simplifying 25 rules and procedures to foster greater transparency and efficiency.

Progress Update: As of now, 19 rules have been successfully simplified, reflecting steady advancement toward modernized governance.

Special Campaign 5.0 continues to drive transformative changes in the Department of Defence, promoting a cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable work environment.
