A peace agreement aimed at resolving the long‑standing border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia has been finalised. The agreement was concluded in the presence of US President Shri Donald Trump during the ASEAN Summit that commenced today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Regional leaders described the agreement as a significant step forward for ensuring long‑term stability in Southeast Asia. The accord lays out a framework for demarcation, joint border management and confidence‑building measures intended to prevent future incidents and enhance cross‑border cooperation.

“Economic diplomacy plays an essential role in promoting peace,” emphasised US President Shri Donald Trump during the ceremony. He noted that sustainable trade relations can only flourish when peace is maintained between neighbouring countries.

Cambodian Prime Minister Shri Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Shri Anutin Charnvirakul publicly expressed their gratitude to the US President for his support and facilitation in reaching the agreement. Both leaders committed to implementing the deal in good faith and to continuing bilateral dialogue to address outstanding technical and administrative issues.
