Historical Context
The Japan-Brazil Joint Committee on Cooperation in Science and Technology was established under the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Science and Technology, signed in May 1984. Article 3 of the agreement mandates the creation of this intergovernmental framework to promote and oversee scientific and technological collaboration. The committee alternates between Japan and Brazil, with the previous (5th) meeting held virtually in September 2022.
