LG Commemorates Police Martyrs
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tributes to police martyrs on Police Commemoration Day. In a social media post, he honored the sacrifices of police personnel, expressing gratitude for their contributions to maintaining national integrity and public safety. Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, along with other Jammu and Kashmir Police officials, also paid tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s protection.

LG Visits Kalmykia for Holy Relics
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha returned to Delhi after a two-day visit to the Republic of Kalmykia. He led a delegation to bring Lord Buddha’s sacred relics to India. The relics were displayed in Elista, the capital of Kalmykia. In a post, Sinha noted that the display of these relics fosters deep spiritual connections and will serve as a source of peace and inspiration for future generations. The relics are expected to inspire people in Kalmykia as well.
Education Minister Emphasizes Modern Education
Education Minister Sakina Itoo stated that the government is working to ensure modern educational facilities for children across the country. Speaking at an event in Uri’s Bonyar area, she emphasized the importance of education for progress. The minister highlighted the government’s goal of improving infrastructure and creating an inclusive environment for knowledge. At another event in Baramulla, Itoo stressed the need for the holistic development of students, youth, and women.
By-Polls: Nominations Filed
A total of 33 candidates filed nominations for the Budgam and Nagrota Assembly constituencies. According to an All India Radio Jammu report, 20 candidates filed for the Budgam seat, while 13 filed for Nagrota. For Budgam, the National Conference nominated Aga Syed Mahmood, PDP chose Aga Muntazir Mehdi, BJP selected Aga Syed Moshin, and AAP named Deeba Khan. For Nagrota, BJP’s candidate is Devyani Rana, Panthers Party’s Harsh Dev, and National Conference’s Shameem Begum, among others. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary was present during Shameem Begum’s nomination filing.
Security Forces Neutralize IED
Security forces in Shopian district successfully detected and neutralized an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), averting a major incident. Authorities reported that the IED was planted by suspected terrorists. A bomb disposal team located and defused the device, preventing a potential disaster.
GOC Inspects Operational Preparedness
Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat, GOC of the Rising Star Corps, visited Kathua to review the operational preparedness of forces in sensitive areas. According to an All India Radio Jammu report, he inspected troop deployments in the Bani-Macchedi sector, commending the forces for their bravery, determination, and readiness for action. The Bani-Macchedi area, considered a route for infiltration into Doda, Kishtwar, and Udhampur districts, has seen no attacks in the past one and a half years.
