National News: Skill Development Initiative

The state government, in collaboration with the central government, has initiated the establishment of a national-level training center to enhance the skills of rural youth. The campaign “From Village to Victory” has been launched to promote rural entrepreneurship. The Odisha government’s skill development training program, conducted under the Skilled Odisha Mission, focuses on modern agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries. By the end of the year, 100 skill development centers will be established across rural Odisha to train youth. Financial assistance is being disbursed to rural entrepreneurs to promote entrepreneurship, with employment opportunities being created across various districts.

Nuapada: Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

In Nuapada, a skill development training program focusing on agriculture, horticulture, dairy, and animal husbandry is being conducted under the leadership of youth entrepreneur Laxman Gahana. In collaboration with the state agricultural university in Bhawanipatna, a special training program provides financial assistance for entrepreneurship, including agricultural equipment, fertilizers, and seeds, as well as technical training for modern agricultural practices. The program includes 14 district-level agricultural trainers, 5 state-level expert trainers, 35 mobile agricultural units, and 28 drone units to support rural youth.

The Nuapada skill development campaign emphasizes training women in self-help groups to promote entrepreneurship. By the end of the year, 100 training centers will be established across the state to empower rural women and create employment opportunities in rural areas.

National News: Swachh Bharat Mission

The Swachh Bharat Mission, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will celebrate its 11th anniversary on October 26. Citizens are encouraged to participate in cleanliness drives and share their efforts on platforms like MyGov and the Swachh Bharat app. A toll-free number (1800-11-7800) and SMS service (1922) are available for citizens to share their cleanliness initiatives by the end of October.

National News: Air Quality Index (AQI)

Air quality in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar has deteriorated, with Bhubaneswar’s AQI reaching 180 and Cuttack’s CDA area reaching 185, classified as poor. An AQI above 100 is considered unhealthy. The Odisha Environment Department has installed air quality monitoring equipment at six locations in Bhubaneswar to address air pollution.

Khurda: Modern Fish Market

During the festive season, a modern fish market has been established at the old bus stand in Khurda to promote fish farming and marketing. Fish markets have been set up in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Baripada, and Khurda to support fishermen. Subsidies are being provided for fishpond construction, with 367 modern fish markets established. In the Balugaon-Khurda region, all fish markets are being modernized. The Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department is providing training to fishermen, with a modern fish market inaugurated in Khurda at a cost of ₹1.39 crore by District Collector Dilip Routray.

Bhadrak: Agricultural Fair

In Bhadrak district, a grand agricultural fair is being organized in the village of Madhapur under the leadership of farmer Chandan Mallick. Farmers from nearby villages, including Balipatna, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Jajpur, are participating to showcase modern agricultural techniques.

Weather Update

Due to a cyclonic circulation in the Andaman Sea, light to moderate rainfall is expected in coastal Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Rourkela, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput, with heavy rainfall at one or two places. Bhubaneswar’s weather is expected to remain partly cloudy. The cyclonic circulation may intensify into a low-pressure system, leading to heavy rainfall by October 26 and 29. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning to fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea.
