Second Edition of Sikkim Soldierathon Shines in Gangtok
Distinguished Guests and Vibrant Participation
The marathon was graced by Shri Om Prakash Mathur, Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, and General (Dr.) VK Singh, Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram, adding a touch of prestige to the occasion. Over 2,200 participants from across India took part in the event, which featured three race categories: 5 Km, 10 Km, and 21 Km. Winners were awarded attractive prizes, while every participant received an achiever’s medal and promotional items, fostering a sense of accomplishment.
Cultural Performances Add Festive Flair
The event was enriched with diverse cultural performances, creating an exhilarating and electrifying atmosphere that celebrated Sikkim’s vibrant heritage alongside the spirit of fitness and patriotism.
Messages from Military Leadership
Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, inspired participants with his message: “Every step you take is a tribute to the valour and sacrifice of our soldiers guarding our borders. I am honoured to be part of this vibrant initiative to promote a Fit India and strengthen the bond between the Indian Army and our citizens.”
Lieutenant General Man Raj Singh Mann, GOC, 33 Corps, highlighted the event’s unique appeal, stating, “Soldierathon is a unique event that offers a lifetime opportunity to run with and for our brave soldiers who stand vigil round the clock on the borders.”
